POSITION PROFILE
There is currently one Forest Crew Supervisor 2 position open in the Arcadia District of Northeast Region. Responsibilities include working closely with and assisting the Fire Suppression Forester in the delivery of the Arcadia Suppression Program as the lead worker supervising, training and documenting activities for (6) NRW-2 Engine Leaders and (12) Fire Fighters. Assigned duties include assistance in the issuance of burning permits, fire investigation origin and cause determination, maintaining district fire equipment and in providing fire training to district personnel and other cooperators. In addition helps other programs in the district as assigned including, but not limited to, State Lands.The Arcadia District Fire Staff consists of four permanent full-time employees and up to 37 seasonal staff who consist of 11 engines and 4 fire wardens. The Arcadia District is responsible for wild fire suppression and regulation on over 2 million acres of private and 90 thousand acres of state trust land. The Arcadia District averages 170 initial attack fires per year, and includes extensive urban interface in the greater Spokane area.

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

DESIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
• A Bachelor or Associates Degree in a Natural Resource field • Skill in supervision, leadership and management of people • Ability to perform as a team player in a demanding work environment • Knowledge of employment rules and regulations as they apply to permanent, career seasonal, and seasonal DNR employees. • Experience in supervising wildland firefighting personnel. • The desire and ability to be trained to a NWCG “Red Card” qualification level of Task Force Leader and Incident Commander Type 4 or higher, and use / maintain that level of certification. • Knowledge of the Incident Command System. • Exceptional written and verbal skills. • General forestry background, education or experience • Proven training experience (especially fire) • Maintenance, mechanical and technical expertise of engines, pumps and power tools. • Knowledgeable about safe operation of 4-wheelers, off road vehicle operation, snowmobiles, etc. • Proven ability in computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, Excel Spreadsheets, etc. • Forest Warden or Police Powers Commission.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
• Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire. • Must possess valid driver’s license and two years of driving experience. • Must possess at minimum, current Single Resource Boss NWCG qualification. • Must pass work capacity test at the arduous level. • Must pass Criminal Justice Records Check (For applicable Forest Warden and Police Powers certification)
