*Job Description:
This position is responsible for transplanting, soil preparation, pruning, fertilizing and spraying of trees, shrubs, plant beds and interior foliage as well as use and care of landscaping equipment and maintaining and repairing irrigation systems.

*Qualifications Required:
Requires 4 years experience in commercial landscaping and minimum of an AA in Horticulture or equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be available flexible hours.

Landscaping - $12-15/hr

Landscape Design/Install Co. Currently Hiring

Ashdon-McGrath Landscaping is a dynamic & creative landscaping company. We are a small outfit that caters to unique garden needs.

Our expertise ranges from re-designing someone’s property and installing new trees, shrubs, & plants, to full size estate landscaping projects. We often work with stone, creating flagstone patios, garden walls, & water features.

In the fall we are often asked to prune ornamental trees & shrubs, we are ISA trained in pruning techniques. Our staff are friendly and supportive & always willing to teach new skills. We are looking for individuals who want a job with lots of variety & opportunity.

Though we have lots of work to be done, we try to be flexible with your schedule. Currently we do not offer benefits but are goal is to have them available within a year or so. All applicants should be motivated, punctual, have reliable transportation and be in good physical condition. Related experience is a plus and willingness to work outside rain or shine is a must. We are hiring for these positions:

CREW MEMBERS - Applicants for this position should enjoy working outside, be able to follow detailed instructions. Experience in the industry is a plus. Must have cell phone & transportation.

Internship, Miller Garden -$10/hr

One Year Internship
In one the Pacific Northwest’s premium gardens

A one-year internship is available at the Elisabeth C. Miller Botanical Garden. The position is available starting early summer with some flexibility to accommodate applicants’ schedules. The work is focused on garden maintenance and it is essential that candidates be prepared for rigorous physical labor. Tasks include watering, pruning, potting and some propagation. There will also be an opportunity to learn the plant accession data base.

The Miller Garden is a three-acre garden with an exceptional collection of woody and herbaceous plants. The facilities include a small greenhouse, an alpine house, cold frames, lath house and a small nursery to support garden operations. We are open to the public by appointment only.

We are a very small staff so it is imperative that candidates have a positive attitude and an excellent work ethic. Horticulture or related education is preferred. Priority is given to applicants currently in school or recently graduated.

The position will last one year from the start date and is funded for 20 hours per week with a wage of $10.00 per hour. Some weekend work is required. The E. C. Miller Botanical Garden is an equal opportunity employer.
