The Community Fruit Tree Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the Community Fruit Tree Harvest – an effort to reduce food waste, build community, increase awareness about hunger, preserve the urban forest, and improve access to fresh fruit among low-income individuals. The Project Coordinator will coordinate all aspects of the Community Fruit Tree Harvest Project including recruiting volunteers and tree donors, procuring in-kind donations of harvesting materials, advertising, organizing and leading volunteer orientations and training, maintaining communication and relationships with tree donors, neighborhood team leaders, volunteers, food banks and meals programs. Directly supervise the work of individual volunteers and organize an end of the year celebration for volunteers; con duct program outreach and teach workshops; research opportunities for creating an advisory board, identify future funding options, measure outcomes, write quarterly reports and conduct an end of the season project evaluation with donors, recipients, and volunteers; and coordinate administrative functions for the project, maintain database, utilize mapping technology, and correspond with donors and volunteers as needed.

DESCRIPTION:
This position is in the Campus Services/Facilities Operations department at South Seattle Community College (SSCC). It is responsible for the maintenance of campus grounds, landscapes, and arboretum, and performing various maintenance types of operations including litter control, recycling activities, sprinkler irrigation/maintenance and other duties as assigned within a grounds maintenance program. Positions in this level supervise assigned personnel in the development and maintenance of grounds, landscapes, and arboretums. Assigns, instructs and checks the work of other grounds personnel in landscape construction and grounds maintenance work. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs and supervises others in planting, transplanting, mowing, pruning fertilizing, and irrigating lawns, gardens, shrubs, and trees. Coordinates, plans and prepares special landscaping projects. Determines anticipated annual plant and seed consumption for flower beds, gardens, lawns, and shrubs. Estimates costs for plants, seeds, soil conditioners, insect sprays, fungicides, equipment, and man hours. Formulates and submits for administrative approval annual operating plans for large program of grounds maintenance and gardening. Assists in interviewing, selecting, training, and evaluating personnel; supervises lower level staff, number of gardeners, and temporary employees; gives technical gardening assistance; and evaluates work of subordinates. Submits requests for supplies, equipment and help needed and maintains adherence to safety policies and procedures. Operates power and motorized equipment such as blowers, light tractors, front-end loaders, lawn mowers, gang mowers, forklifts, lawn edger’s, chain saws, small trucks, back pack blowers, lawn vacuums, and snow blowers. Maintains pavements, parking lots and roads.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
A current Washington State driver’s license AND one or a combination of the following: two to four (2-4) years experience in gardening, grounds maintenance, nursery, parks, or a related activity AND at least one (1) year lead or supervisory experience; OR a college degree involving major study in Agronomy, Botany, Horticulture, soils or a closely allied field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to obtain a current Washington State Department of Agriculture Public Operator Pesticide License.

SALARY: (Range 37) $2,433 to $3,150 per month.

International District Garden Manager

InterIm Community Development Association (ICDA) seeks a talented, motivated individual to manage the Danny Woo International District (ID) Community Garden. The garden provides opportunities to the neighborhood¡¦s low-income seniors to stay active and social by gardening together. Built in 1975 by volunteers, the 1.5 acres comprise half of the ID's open green space containing nearly 100 garden plots, dozens of fruit trees and ornamental gardens.

This individual will coordinate garden utilization and needed improvements at the 20+ plot community garden at our Highland Gardens development.

Responsibilities :
-- Maintain the garden's physical appearance, landscaping, structures, plumbing and electrical systems through the coordination and recruitment of volunteers and work with gardeners and through other partnerships.
--Plan and manage garden capital improvements such as construction or replacement of retaining walls, installation of pathways or irrigation, wood construction or other landscape construction.
--Raise funds for garden projects by preparing grant applications and maintaining and expanding a donor base and Friends of Danny Woo garden. Create and manage garden and project budgets. Get community and gardeners' input into project ideas.
--Recruit and coordinate all volunteer efforts to improve and maintain the garden. Procure materials necessary for various tasks to be accomplished.
--Address and advocate for improved public safety in the garden
--Coordinate registration of individuals to garden plots, maintain a wait list of interested gardeners, conduct outreach to the community to educate residents about opportunities in the garden.

Cashiers
Our Garden Store Cashiers are key to providing world-class customer service here at Molbak’s. Customer Support
The Customer Support crew primarily provides carry-out and other assistance to customers. Driver’s Assistant
At Molbak’s we work hard to deliver outstanding service, and that includes or Deliveries Department! During the busy holiday season our trucks are on the road 6 days a week with everything form poinsettias and trees to statuary and large containers. The Driver’s Assistant helps keep Deliveries on track by assisting with map reading, answering and returning phone calls on the road, and helping to load and unload freight. The ability to lift and move up to 80 lbs and to read road maps such as those found in a Thomas Guide are among the requirements.
Status: Full-Time, Tuesday through Saturday. Some overtime may be required.

Green Team
The Plants Division Green Team staff is responsible for supporting the Nursery and other Plants Departments by receiving, stocking and maintaining plant products, in particular this time of year live and cut trees and other holiday green goods. It is truly one of the most “can-do” teams at Molbak’s, and is great for people who love working outdoors in all seasons. This physically demanding job also requires the ability to repeatedly lift and move objects weighing up to 70 pounds.
Status: Part-Time, including weekend and evening shifts.

Holiday Hospitality
The Holidays are special at here Molbak’s – if for no other reason than the Kringle pastry we serve and sell to our customers! Our Hospitality Team offers complimentary coffee and Kringle, a unique pastry from Seattle’s own Larsen Brothers Bakery, as well as boxes of Kringle for sale. This an active job, cutting pastry, making coffee, stocking product, plus serving and interacting with customers. POSITION PROFILE
There is currently one Forest Crew Supervisor 2 position open in the Arcadia District of Northeast Region. Responsibilities include working closely with and assisting the Fire Suppression Forester in the delivery of the Arcadia Suppression Program as the lead worker supervising, training and documenting activities for (6) NRW-2 Engine Leaders and (12) Fire Fighters. Assigned duties include assistance in the issuance of burning permits, fire investigation origin and cause determination, maintaining district fire equipment and in providing fire training to district personnel and other cooperators. In addition helps other programs in the district as assigned including, but not limited to, State Lands.The Arcadia District Fire Staff consists of four permanent full-time employees and up to 37 seasonal staff who consist of 11 engines and 4 fire wardens. The Arcadia District is responsible for wild fire suppression and regulation on over 2 million acres of private and 90 thousand acres of state trust land.
