POSITION INFORMATION:
There is currently one vacancy with the Department of Ecology, Solid Waste and Financial Assistance Program, Southwest Regional Office in Lacey, Washington. In support of the agency mission, this position will supervise and manage professional staff that provides technical assistance and regulatory oversight for solid waste rule compliance, solid waste management planning, and sustainability activities within the Southwest Region in order to reduce the amount and toxicity of solid waste and ensure environmentally sound disposal. The successful candidate is a member of the Solid Waste and Financial Assistance Program Management Team and the Southwest Regional Office Management Team.

Duties:
This position will be assigned several areas of responsibility

1.) Assigning and managing staff and financial resources
2.) Approving policies pertaining to personnel, budget, and solid waste management
3.) Sponsoring new initiatives in sustainability, waste reduction, recycling, and reuse
4.) Implementation of state and federal regulations regarding solid waste planning and management; waste reduction, recycling and reuse; biosolids management; and cleanup.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:
*Bachelor's Degree with major study in environmental or natural science or related field, or equivalent experience.
*Expertise supervising professional staff responsible for implementation of regulatory, technical or scientific projects.
*Experience reading and interpreting statutes and regulations
*Experience managing a complex budget
