POSITION: Temp Seasonal Gardener Position
WORK LOCATION: Jefferson Greenhouse
Atlantic City Nursery
SALARY: $19.27 starting
WORK HOURS: 7:00AM – 3:30PM Sunday through Thursday
START DATE: March 5, 2008

JOB DESCRIPTION: Assist Senior Gardener and Gardener with raising crops
from seeds, plugs and cuttings, including natives, ornamental woody and herbaceous
plants at the Jefferson Greenhouse. Assist with propagation and care of 150,000
annuals and perennials. Assist Atlantic City Nursery’s Senior Gardener with growing on
and care of such crops as well as the maintenance of the nursery grounds. Duties
include potting, transplanting, weeding, grooming, and watering. Individual will interact
with park staff.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The equivalent of one year of experience in the
propagation and maintenance of flowers, plants, shrubs, and trees at a conservatory,
greenhouse, or nursery. Required to stand, walk, or bend for extended periods of time,
lift objects that weigh 50 pounds or less and work outdoors in all types of weather.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education and/or work experience in propagation,
botany, horticulture, as well as good customer service experience. Plant identification
skills including NW native plants and their culture care. Ability to operate small gaspowered
equipment. Work independently as well as with a team. High attention to
detail. Good listening and communication skills, and contribute to a safe work
environment.

LICENSES: WA State Drivers License is required.
