SCA Crew Leader - $DOE

Leader. Mentor. Teacher. Do you have the skills, and the drive, to be part of one of the most dynamic non-profits across the country?

The Student Conservation Association (SCA) offers qualified applicants the chance to lead volunteer crews in more than 100 spectacular national parks, forests, refuges, and urban sites across the United States. Crew Leaders work with crews of 6, 8 or 10 high school students, in backcountry, front country, or urban community sites. Typical programs are 30 days in length.

Candidate requirements include:
 Be at least 21 years old.
 Valid driver’s license and completion of MVR check within SCA guidelines
 Successful completion of criminal background check within SCA guidelines
 Must possess current required first aid certification & CPR by the start date of the orientation training. o Wilderness First Aid or equivalent certification is the minimum requirement for National Crew Leaders o Community First Aid is minimum for Commuting Crew Leaders
 Previous experience working with youth (ages 14-18)
 Experience with outdoor living skills. Can include: hiking, safety awareness, leave no trace, camping, cooking, basic map/compass.
 Experience with conservation work skills or related skills, ie, carpentry, construction, landscaping, gardening, masonry.
 Ability to perform manual, physical labor for up to 8 hours per day. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds or more and hike 5 or more miles.
