Athletic Field Technician - $21.317/hr

Bellevue School District
Under the supervision of the Landscape Lead performs maintenance on the athletic field complexes and grounds at the four major high schools. This includes all issues with stadium, turf field, track, storage facilities, press boxes, restrooms, concession stands, baseball and softball fields, tennis courts and grounds on the main campus.

Duties:
  • Performs all duties related to maintaining athletic facilities and assisting with high school grounds, including pressure washing in stadium and other areas as needed as well as minor bleacher repair and maintenance; blowing off and maintaining clean walkways around stadium.
  • Pick up and empty trash in football stadium, including on and below bleachers; maintain track surface by sweeping, blowing, pressure washing and doing minor track surface repairs as necessary; clean and maintain shot put and long jump pits.
  • Sweep, groom, and make minor repairs to turf field surface; add infill material when needed; maintain athletic equipment such as soccer goals, nets and other accessories used on the fields.
  • Clean and maintain restrooms, concessions, press boxes, penthouse and ticket booths on a regular basis; order restroom supplies and other indoor materials used in the stadium facilities.
  • Blowing off and maintain cleanliness of tennis courts, maintaining court surface, small repairs to surfacing, nets, fencing and windscreens.
  • Maintain the baseball infield’s artificial surface, keep infill mix worked and contained in pits, home plate and pitcher’s mound areas, blow out dugouts, make minor turf repairs as necessary and maintain warning track area.
  • Mow and weed areas in stadium; maintain plantings and flower beds inside stadium, bark, prune, weed beds, and trees; maintain and clean storm drains inside stadium; maintain and repair signs/replace signs around stadium.
  • Legally apply pesticides and herbicides as needed to control weeds and pests such as bees, rodents, birds and insects.
  • Operate and maintain grounds equipment and hand tools such as mowers, blowers, weed eaters, drills, hedge trimmers, small utility vehicles, riding mowers, sweepers, chainsaw, cultivator, leaf sucker.
  • Perform minor maintenance on irrigation systems; assist with major field renovations including fertilizing, thatching, aerating, seeding and other related work.
  • Access computer for electronic work order system and e-mail.
  • Maintain effective communication with athletic directors on a regular basis.
  • Perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of grounds and/or related experience.
  • School district experience preferred.
  • Possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License.
  • Possess or ability to obtain within six months from date of hire a valid Public Operator Pesticide License in categories OB and OC.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Methods, practices, and materials used in the grounds maintenance and repair; safety procedures and practices.
  • Lead a work crew.
  • Operate hand and power tools.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and orally.

Maintenance Salary Classification V ($ 20.317 per hour), 40 hours per week, for a 261-day annual assignment.

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement that requires a membership or representation fee as an ongoing condition of continued employment after an individual is hired.

Landscape Maintenance - $DOE

Wurdeman Landscaping is a high quality landscape maintenance provider. We provide landscape maintenance services to a group of regular clients on a weekly, monthly & quarterly basis. We also take selected pruning, clean-up & renovation jobs. We serve both residential & commercial clients.

The team member position will include performing landscape maintenance & project activities as a member of a team as well as individually. The activities will include pruning, weeding & raking, hedge trimming, mowing edging & blowing, planting, wall & patio construction, other miscellaneous activities. McCormick Woods Golf course is a public golf course that is open 7 days a week. Work hours for all position will be 35 hours a week.

3 Equipment Operators/General Labor Greens keepers. Weekday Schedule. 35 hours a week. Duties include mowing greens, mowing tee boxes, mowing fairways, raking bunkers, weed whacking, hand watering, general landscaping around clubhouse. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and sit for long periods of time on riding mower. These jobs are detailed oriented. Must have a current driver’s license. These positions are Monday thru Friday 5:30 am – 2:00 pm.

2 Equipment Operators/General Labor Greens keeper. Weekend Schedule.30 - 35 hours a week.
