Lead Gardener - $DOE

Rock Solid Landscapes provides 100% organic landscape maintenance and is seeking a full-time Lead Gardener with professional experience to join our maintenance team. We care for high-quality residential gardens and need someone who recognizes and appreciates the detail and care needed for gardens of this caliber.

This person would be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and oversight of clients’ yards, ensuring quality of care and providing direction as needed to one other gardener. The position requires prioritizing workload and time, attention to detail, problem identification and follow-through. Duties include, but are not limited to: detailed hand weeding, planting and transplanting, shrub and tree pruning including roses, mulching, deadheading/cutting back of seasonal foliage, and perennial care.

Applicants should have two to three years experience in a landscape maintenance position, ability to supervise and provide training to staff as needed, and knowledge of a wide variety of plants and their care. Horticultural training or education preferred. Desired skills include plant identification, knowledge of proper turf management, ability to operate and provide basic maintenance to irrigation systems, and the ability to identify and/or diagnose disease and insect problems and make recommendations for appropriate care.

Ideally, this person would have the skills and abilities to move into the Maintenance Manager position over time. Additional skills to move into a management position include: ability to learn quickly and juggle multiple responsibilities, use Microsoft Word and Excel proficiently, strong writing and communication skills, the ability to make decisions independently with minimal supervision, and preferably experience with bidding and estimating.

Applicants should be knowledgeable, reliable, and able to work independently, rain or shine. Applicants must be able to lift fifty pounds on a regular basis and drive company vehicles. Area of work is typically within Seattle city limits. Work hours are 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. Health benefits, vacation, and sick leave after 6 months. Pay negotiable based on experience.
