Job Title: Natural Resource Policy and Planning Specialist

Salary: $63,500 - $80,000 per year (DOQ)

Location: Olmpia, WA

Closes: April 9, 2008

Duties:
This position provides policy support for the Recreation and Conservation Office, with an emphasis on habitat restoration and protection grant programs and Salmon Recovery Funding Board (SRFB) and Recreation and Conservation Funding Board (RCFB) policy issues. Responsibilities include:

~Develop and present issues, recommendations and related information to the boards and board subcommittees.

~Lead, develop, and/or cultivate special projects; new programs and legislative directives; program policies and guidelines; and procedures for RCO-administered grant programs.

~Assist with the RCO’s strategic planning efforts, the unit work plans, plan implementation progress monitoring, and performance measurements.

~Assist with writing grant program policy manuals, reports, briefing materials, and recommendations.
~Represent the RCO to constituent groups and external organizations and on interagency workgroups, committees, and taskforces.
~Assist the Legislative Liaison with reviewing, monitoring, and responding to legislative proposals that impact RCO programs and grant recipients.
~Communicate and work closely with: the agency managers, the boards, councils, and forums administered by the RCO; the Governor’s Salmon Recovery Office; and other state and federal agencies, stakeholders and clients.
~Develop and implement stakeholder outreach strategies.
~Respond to requests for general information from the public, legislature, government agencies, and organizations.
