Wholesale Cashier - $DOE

I. Summary:
The Wholesale Cashiers at Molbak’s Plant Farm is responsible for providing the friendliest and most efficient service possible to customers during both check-in and check-out. Our Wholesale Cashier is not only highly knowledgeable about wholesale operations, but also familiar with the plants and products offered at the Farm, our daily and seasonal specials, as well as the needs of our wholesale customers. Cashiers are key customer service providers whose interaction with each person who shops at Molbak’s Plant Farm results in that customer’s complete satisfaction.

II. Essential Functions & Primary Areas of Responsibility:

· Conduct every transaction with each customer in a friendly, efficient and accurate manner

· Provide accurate information regarding prices, specials, discounts and other selling information

· Secure tills at the beginning and end of each shift

· Maintain an attractive and safe sales and checkout area.

· Assist with stocking and merchandising, including any display set-up and maintenance

· Other duties as assigned


III. Minimum Qualifications:

1. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
2. Ability to operate a cash register and/or other transaction machinery
3. Proficiency in keyboarding and/or 10-key data entry
4. Ability to count and secure cash, receipts, coupons, and other transaction artifacts
5. Ability to work standing, lifting, bending and walking for prolonged periods
6. Ability to repeatedly lift and move up to 50 pounds


IV. Work Environment:
Indoor, outdoor and greenhouse wholesale operations, with potential exposure to extremes of weather and temperature.

POSITION SUMMARY
The primary functions and responsibilities of the Landscape/Grounds Maintenance Technician Helper are to perform routine maintenance work for upkeep of outdoor grounds, parking lots and roadways. Perform repair, renovation and new landscape work on campus grounds and provide a safe, attractive and accessible environment for all.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS-- Address all that apply in cover letter and/or resume
· Perform work to maintain ornamental grass areas, undeveloped grass areas, shrub and flowerbeds, trees and all grounds areas using hand tools, power equipment and materials.
· Perform work to maintain parking lots, underdeveloped areas, play areas and roadways, including but not limited to; sweeping, edging, restriping and weed control.
· Perform work to remove and replace trees, shrubs, and flowers and grass as needed for landscape maintenance. Remove and dispose of debris and compost as it relates to environmental best practice.


SECONDARY FUNCTIONS-- Address all that apply in cover letter and/or resume
· Perform work to maintain safe, attractive, and accessible campus entrances.
· Ability to correctly and safely use common hand tools for repair work and grounds maintenance, including but not limited to, pruning shears, sprayers, spreaders, wrenches, pliers, hammers, etc.
· Ability to proficiently and safely operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment, including but not limited to, blowers, edgers, mowers, tractors, backhoes, dump trucks, and other related equipment.
· Ability to work alone when assigned work order tasks.
· Ability to perform work for prolonged time periods in adverse weather conditions and difficult ground conditions.
· Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.


KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES-- Address all that apply in cover letter and/or resume
· Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students and community contacts.
· Ability to correctly and safely use common hand tools for repair work and grounds maintenance, including but no limited to, pruning shears, sprayers, spreaders, wrenches, pliers, hammers, etc.
· Ability to proficiently and safely operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment including but not limited to, blowers, edgers, mowers, tractors, backhoes, dump trucks, and other related equipment.
· Ability to work alone, delegate work to others and supervise others.
· Ability to perform work for prolonged time periods in adverse weather conditions and difficult ground conditions.
· Ability to identify plant material, design and construct landscape settings and maintain same.
· Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS--Required-- Address all that apply in cover letter and/or resume
· One year recent, successful working experience in private enterprise or public sector OR successful completion of two years of related technical/trade school.
· Must possess current Washington State driver’s license, vehicle insurance and safe driving record.
· Ability to move 60 pounds and capable of performing all tasks normal to grounds maintenance, landscape construction and related repair work.
· Ability to communicate in English.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS-- Address all that apply in cover letter and/or resume
· Certification in Landscape Construction, Grounds Maintenance and Irrigation Technology.
· Hold a current Back Flow Prevention Certification License.
· Hold a current Public Operator’s Pesticide License for weed, insect, and disease control.

APPRENTICESHIP
In the event this position is designated as an apprenticeship position, the employee must become an apprentice in the International Union of Operating Engineers, Locals 286 and 609 and the Western Washington Operating Engineers Facilities Custodial Service Apprenticeship Program.


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Work Location: Clover Park Technical College, Lakewood, Washington.
Work Schedule: Full-time, operating engineer position. Twelve work months per year; 40 work hours per week; eight work hours per day.
Reports to: Director of Plant Services & Security
Union: As a condition of continued employment, employees are required to become a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 286, or pay a representation fee on or after the 30th day following the beginning of employment.
Anticipated Start Date: ASAP

Duties:
