Habitat Restoration Technician (Snoqualmie Valley) - $DOE

*** PREFERENCE FOR THIS JOB WILL BE GIVEN TO SNOQUALMIE VALLEY AND NEARBY (EASTSIDE) RESIDENTS ***

This job is a full-time contract position with Stewardship Partners; a Seattle based non-profit conservation organization with a targeted program conducting restoration projects with agricultural landowners in the Snoqualmie Valley.

As part of a restoration work crew, the Restoration Technician (crew member), will assist in implementing habitat restoration projects which may include riparian planting, wetland enhancement, erosion control, livestock fencing, and in-stream enhancement through woody debris placement.

Specific tasks will include the following:
• Invasive species removal of Himalayan blackberry, reed canary grass, Japanese knotweed and other invasives.
• Plant salvage of native species such as alders, dogwoods, and willows.
• Site prep including layout of landscape fabric, site cleanup.
• Planting native vegetation along riparian areas
• Staking river banks with dogwood and willow stakes
• Weeding around established planting areas.

Qualifications:
• Self-starter, ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
• Ability to conduct manual labor and work in inclement weather.
• Some knowledge of local ecology and native plants helpful (but not required).
• Must have personal vehicle.
• Snoqualmie Valley residents preferred.
