Horticultural Technician-$11-14/hr

Hours: 24-30

Work Schedule: Tues, Wed, Thurs if 24 hrs + Mon or Fri. if 30
7:00-3:30 during training, some flex on time after training but days will stay

Job Description:
Caring for tropical plants (and their owners) in officev buildings
Maintain overall appearance and design of client’s interiorv landscapes
Sell within accounts
Help with special projects (Installation of new plants, Holiday decorating, client anniversaries)

After initial training, I am looking for someone willing to take on additional responsibilities according to their talents (i.e administrative/bookkeeping, warehouse organization, plant purchasing, safety manager, installation manager, service supervisor, sales and or marketing, pest control manager)
If you choose to work 30 hours, 24 of those will be doing direct plant care and installation. The remaining 6-8 hours (at least at first) will consist of various tasks including but not limited to creating a safety plan, preparing proposals, floral prep or design, inventory, general administrative work.

Qualifications Required:
Knowledge of or the capacity to learn the names and care of our most commonly used plants within the training period.
Must also learn additional plant names and new skills on an ongoing basis.
Must obtain commercial pest applicator’s license within one year and one month of hire date. (This does not mean we use pesticides but the license and knowledge behind it are necessary)
Valid WSDL and good driving record.
Able to work unsupervised
Able to provide friendly, efficient customer service
If you use your own vehicle, you are reimbursed for mileage at 44.5 cents per mile (or current IRS standards)
Physical capacity to do job- lift 25 lbs., walks several miles per day carrying 2- 2gallon water cans filled with water. Lots of kneeling and bending
Creative, flexible person willing to help with whatever task is on the agenda
Must be very detail oriented.
The communication between yourself, clients and other staff is the key to providing excellent customer service.
Willing to learn to use internet and variousv computer programs such as excel and word
