There is one (1) full-time permanent position
within the Plant Protection Division. This position will be located in Tacoma,
Washington and covers East Pierce and South King Counties. The position
requires occasional travel to other areas of the state. Preferred candidate to
live in or re-locate near the Tacoma area.

DUTIES: |
Plant Services Specialists enforce state and federal laws and
regulations governing the handling, sale or shipment of nursery stock, bulbs,
cut plant material and fruits and vegetables in an assigned geographic area. As
a designated cooperator with USDA, certifies plant products to the
phystosanitary standards of importing countries.
NOTE: As a condition
of employment, this position is covered under a collective bargaining
agreement. Employees are required to pay regular union dues or non-association
fees (dues to religious tenets) within 30 calendar days following employment.

QUALIFICATIONS: |
A valid driver's license is required.
A Bachelor's
degree in entomology, plant pathology, botany, horticulture, agronomy or closely
allied field and one year experience in plant regulatory activities
OR
One year as a Plant Services Specialist 1.
Additional
qualifying experience will substitute, year for year, for required education.
Designation as a cooperator by USDA-APHIS under the Federal-State export
program to issue federal phytosanitary certificates is desirable.
