Seattle Tilth is hiring an educator to support the Garden Hotline. Hotline educators provide service by phone, email and walk in queries by residents Monday through Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Educators provide information on plant care and selection, insect, animal and plant pests, IPM alternatives to pesticide use, weed management, urban food growing, soil building, soil biology, composting of yard debris and food scraps, use of compost and mulch, grass-cycling, natural lawn care, outdoor water conservation and home storm water management to residents of the City of Seattle and King County at large. Educators also conduct community outreach in Seattle and throughout King County, which includes tabling at events, delivering educational workshops and presentations, giving garden tours, and other activities.

This position offers a regular schedule of 28 hours per week. During the peak season (May– September) 40 hours per week are required to perform community outreach. Gardener, Temp. - $12.00-15.00/hr DOE

Willows Lodge Temporary Gardener
32 hr per week May 2 – May 26 $12.-$15.00 hour DOE

Summary:

This is a temporary gardener position for one month to stand in for a gardener on leave. The work includes grounds maintenance and other associated tasks to maintain a safe and attractive environment at the hotel. Gardener will report to the assistant gardener. Willows Lodge landscape maintenance rests on a foundation of sustainability, using IPM protocols and bio-rational management. The job terminates at the end of the time period.
